Girls’ Basketball Roundup : Katella Holds Off Los Alamitos Rally for 51-43 Victory

Forward Joni Easterly scored 25 points and had 14 rebounds as Katella High School defeated Los Alamitos, 51-43, in an Empire League girls’ basketball game Tuesday at Los Alamitos.
Katella (8-8, 2-0) led, 34-22, with five minutes left in the third quarter, but Los Alamitos (6-9, 0-2) went on a 15-3 run to tie the score, 37-37, with two minutes gone in the fourth quarter.
But Katella came back with 10 unanswered points in three minutes to take a 47-37 lead. Los Alamitos never came closer than four points the rest of the way.
Easterly scored 15 of her 25 points in the second half and eight in the first quarter as Katella took an 18-10 lead.
Jennifer Ensley led Los Alamitos with 18 points and 21 rebounds, and teammate Dianne Sands had 14 and 10 rebounds. Stacy Johnson had 12 points for Katella.
