Three people who were aboard the missing fishing boats Kathryn and Kitty Lee--caught at sea during last weekend’s storm--are presumed dead by the Coast Guard, which suspended its search for the vessels at 5 p.m. Thursday.
Ronnie Rowe, 54, was aboard the Kitty Lee. Aboard the Kathryn were owner Randy Hogden, 39, and crew member Danny Patterson, 35. The bodies of the three men have not been found.
The Coast Guard covered more than 33,000 square miles in its search for the two vessels. The 34-foot Kitty Lee and 35-foot Kathryn were last seen at 12:45 a.m. Monday when they were sighted by another fishing boat 110 miles southwest of San Diego.
