Academy League : Liberty Christian Prevails, 61-54

Steve Chappell scored 18 points to lead Liberty Christian High School to a 61-54 victory over Newport Christian Friday in an Academy League game at Liberty Christian.

The Minutemen (7-7, 3-6) trailed, 16-9, after the first quarter, but outscored the Conquerors, 22-16, in the second quarter to pull within one point. Chappell scored nine points in the quarter, all on three-point shots.

Liberty Christian took a 43-42 lead into the fourth quarter and outscored Newport Christian, 18-12.

Wayne Everett scored 25 points for the Conquerors, 2-7 in league.
