The Alemany High girls’ soccer team took a while to warm up, but once the Indians did they turned up the heat on Arcadia and defeated the defending Pacific League champion Apaches, 3-0, at Alemany.
The win improved the Indians’ record to 15-3-3 overall, 3-0-1 in league play. Arcadia fell to 13-3-4, 1-2-1.
Senior forward Kelly Cook scored Alemany’s first two goals. The first came 20 minutes into the match when Cook scored from the left side on an assist by Shannon Lambert.
“We didn’t start out that well,” said Cook, a third-team All-Southern Section pick last season. “It just took us a little while to get into the game. But we knew if we wanted it, we were going to have to take it.”
