Continental Illinois Corp., Chicago, has announced the appointment of three vice chairmen: Edward S. Bottum, S. Waite Rawls III and Garry J. Scheuring.
Scheuring, 48, will have principal responsibility for the bank’s corporate relationships. Previously, he was executive vice president and sector executive for corporate and institutional banking.
Bottum, 54, a vice chairman and sector executive since 1984, will manage some of Continental’s most demanding corporate accounts. He will continue to direct the realignment of the bank’s international operations until that task has been completed.
Rawls, 39, who will join Continental from Chemical Bank on Feb. 1, will head a new area comprising the bank’s market-making and distribution activities, with principal responsibility for Continental’s relationships with institutional investors. Most recently these areas have been supervised by Michael O. Rigg and William L. Gunlicks. Rigg, 45, has left Continental to operate the Chicago Futures and Options Co. Gunlicks, 45, will head a marketing group responsible for meeting the needs of Midwest corporations outside of Chicago and customers in the energy and minerals industries.
