The Kansas City Royals and Florida State officially dedicated Dick Howser Stadium at the university in honor of the late major league player and manager.
A new, $175,000 scoreboard carrying Howser’s name and a bronze bust of the former Royal and New York Yankees skipper were dedicated during a half-hour ceremony. Howser, who died of cancer last June at 50, was Florida State’s first All-American baseball player in 1957 and later returned to coach there in 1979.
