NEW YORK — Julie Krone rode Seattle Knight from last place to win the six-furlong fifth race at Aqueduct Saturday, tying Patricia Cooksey for most career victories by a female jockey with 1,203.
It is only a question of time before Krone surpasses Cooksey, who is scheduled to undergo surgery on her left knee Monday. Cooksey suffered ligament damage when she was thrown from her mount at Turfway Park in Kentucky on Feb. 17.
Cooksey, who recently broke Patti Barton’s career record of 1,202, will be sidelined from one to four months.
