Jennifer L. Thompson (Viewers’ Views, Jan. 31) addressed the late-night TV commercials on suicide, drugs, AIDS, birth control, etc. She suggested they air during prime time and during programs with appeal to children and teen-agers. I happen to be glad these commercials don’t air during the times she suggested. I don’t like the majority of these commercials and the advice they give to my children. The television medium is so powerful and has so influenced those who watch it, I feel we need tighter controls on shows and commercials. Too many offensive programs and commercials are being aired and it’s time to pull in the reins for the benefit of everyone’s rights.
