Three anti-apartheid groups filed legal challenges against a South African clampdown, calling the rules vague and unlawful. The challenges were filed on behalf of the United Democratic Front, Detainees’ Parents Support Committee and the Congress of South African Trade Unions. They were among 18 organizations whose activities were curbed by government order last month. The South African government also has announced plans to halt foreign funding of opposition groups.
