Community College Roundup : Dehdashtin’s 3 Home Runs, 9 RBIs Lead OCC

Derek Dehdashtin set single-game school records for home runs and RBIs Thursday as Orange Coast College defeated Golden West, 10-2, in a nonconference baseball game at Orange Coast.
Dehdashtin went 5 for 5, with 3 home runs and 9 runs batted in. He also scored three runs.
Sam Clarusso (2-2) allowed just two earned runs and struck out seven in posting the victory.
Dehdashtin hit a three-run homer in the first inning, as Orange Coast (15-8-1) took a 3-0 lead. Dehdashtin hit a three-run homer in the sixth and a two-run homer in the eighth. He also drove in a run with a fourth-inning single.
Saddleback 12, Long Beach 6--Carl Watkins went 2 for 4 with a home run and 2 RBIs to lead host Saddleback (10-6). Chris Latham went 3 for 3 with an RBI and 3 stolen bases.
In men’s tennis:
Fullerton 5, El Camino 4--The No. 2 doubles team of Ray Diebel and Gary Headding defeated George Kovacs and Jim Ferguson, 6-3, 5-7, 6-1, to give host Fullerton (6-6, 2-3) a South Coast Conference victory.
Steve Lord led Fullerton’s singles play by defeating Kovacs, 6-2, 6-3.
In Orange Empire Conference tennis:
Saddleback 8, Cypress 1--Mark Hansen defeated John Swaino, 6-3, 6-3, as Saddleback (7-1, 2-0), ranked third in the state, eased to victory at Cypress.
Saddleback’s Gavin Fenske improved his overall record to 7-1 by defeating Al Christi, 6-3, 6-4.
Orange Coast 8, Riverside 1--Orange Coast’s Chris Flood improved his season record to 12-0 by defeating Mike Bennett, 6-4, 6-2, at Riverside. Orange Coast (12-0, 2-0) is ranked fifth in the state.
