Two Santa Ana men were hospitalized after being shot early Monday outside the Mazatlan Bar, police said.
Police called the shooting a drive-by incident and said it was not related to gang warfare.
Simon Cano Blanco, shot in the chest, was listed Monday in critical condition at UCI Medical Center in Orange, a hospital spokesman said.
Jose O. Gonzales, who was standing next to Blanco, was struck by bullets in his lower legs and taken to Fountain Valley Regional Hospital & Medical Center in stable condition, said Kim Holmes, a spokeswoman for the Santa Ana Police Department.
The two were shot by gunmen in a passing car shortly after 2 a.m. as they stood outside the bar in the 3400 block of West 5th Street, Holmes said.
The car was last seen speeding west on 5th Street, she said. Police have no motive or suspects in the shooting.
