A judge has denied a motion for a court order that would have stopped the sale of KaiserTech Chairman Alan Clore’s shares to Texas financier Charles Hurwitz. The action stemmed from a suit by five KaiserTech directors that alleged Clore planned to transfer board control illegally to Hurwitz, best known in California for his takeover of Pacific Lumber Co. in 1986. The lawsuit was filed in Alameda Superior Court on March 3, three days after Clore agreed to sell his 32.1% stake in the company for up to $234 million to Hurwitz and his Maxxam Group Inc. Robert Irelan, KaiserTech spokesman, said the denial “does not foreclose further action on our part in this case.”
