Local News in Brief : Villa Might Be Landmark
- Share via
A Los Angeles City Council committee has recommended adding to the list of city landmarks a 60-year-old Pacific Palisades estate once popular with expatriate German intellectuals.
The Recreation, Library and Cultural Affairs Committee voted 2 to 0 to recommend declaring the 22-room Villa Aurora a cultural and historic monument.
The designation, subject to the approval of the full council, would save the estate from the wrecking ball for up to one year. USC, which owns the estate, has said it cannot afford the $2 million needed to refurbish the home and threatened to sell it.
