Serenade to Poultry Marinade Just Like Mom Used to Make
- Share via
“This recipe is very simple, economical and most important of all, tasty,” Nonie Doitchinov writes. “My mother has used this marinade with all her poultry dishes before cooking. It seems to work best with fried chicken. It’s ideal for working mothers who have little children who tend to be finicky eaters. It is always a sure bet.”
NONIE’S FRIED CHICKEN
12 to 20 chicken drumsticks or other chicken parts
Juice of 1 large lemon
1/3 cup soy sauce
Dash salt
Dash black pepper
1/2 cup flour
1 1/2 cups oil
Place drumsticks in deep rectangular casserole and sprinkle evenly with lemon juice. Pour soy sauce over chicken. Liquid should settle at bottom of casserole. Marinate overnight, making sure all sides of chicken are well marinated.
Combine salt, pepper and flour in paper bag and drop drumsticks in, 1 at a time, shaking each time until well coated. Heat oil in deep skillet or fryer and fry chicken until golden. Makes 12 to 20 drumsticks.
