A group of intellectuals has called for an end to one-party government in Communist Yugoslavia in the first such written statement by an official body, Yugoslav newspapers reported. The group, charged with outlining proposed changes in Yugoslavia’s constitution, asked for an “abolition of the monopolistic rule” of the Communist Party, according to the state-run Borba newspaper. The statement by the unions of Serbian writers, philosophers and sociologists was adopted at a meeting of the writers in Belgrade.
