A young expectant mother had an abortion during the 90 minutes it was legal in the midst of a complicated court battle with her estranged husband who wanted the unborn child. Michael Jon Reynolds, the frustrated father, said his estranged wife, Jennifer, rushed into surgery and obtained a medical abortion minutes after 3rd District Judge David Young in Salt Lake City, Utah, found no legal grounds for a week-old restraining order. The abortion was performed before Utah Court of Appeals Judge Regnal Garff reinstated a restraining order sought by the father. The appeals judge had found that Reynolds, 25, was entitled to another hearing on his parental rights issue. Reynolds is divorcing his 18-year-old wife, who was about 11 weeks pregnant, but he wanted her to give birth to their second child.
