Tony DiThomas is the new football coach at Magnolia High School, Athletic Director Tom Noel said Wednesday.
DiThomas, the defensive coordinator at North High School in Riverside last year, replaces John Hangartner, who retired for medical reasons last season.
Hangartner suffered a heart attack Oct. 13 and was replaced for the remainder of the season by assistant coaches Dave Gunn and Ted Canfield.
In 1986, DiThomas coached Notre Dame in Riverside to a 6-5 record.
Magnolia finished 1-9 last season.
