Castle Park 29, Southwest 5--Sixteen batters had hits and 14 collected at least one RBI for host Castle Park, which scored in each of the six innings it batted.
The 29 runs ties Castle Park (14-2, 2-0) with Holtville for sixth in the San Diego Section for most runs scored in a game. Holtville did it against Midway Baptist on March 30, 1985. The all-time section record for most runs in a game is 48, set by Christian in a game against La Jolla Country Day on April 14, 1977.
David Husted was 3 for 4 with 2 RBIs and 3 runs scored, Cesar Gutierrez was 3 for 6 with 3 RBIs and 4 runs scored and Hector Mejia was 2 for 3 with 4 RBIs and 2 runs scored for Castle Park.
Montgomery 9, Marian 0--Frank Millican and Jay Peralta combined on a three-hitter, and Dave Schmidt had three hits for Montgomery (8-3, 2-0). Marian is 3-9-1 and 1-1.
Bonita Vista 10, Hilltop 6--Teddy Erhardt had a triple and stole the 70th base of his career as Bonita Vista (10-5, 1-1) took advantage of four Hilltop (1-9, 0-2) errors. Freshman John Solomon had a double and three RBIs for Bonita Vista.
Coronado 9, Sweetwater 4--Jason Fledderjohn was 3 for 3 and Rich Bledsoe 2 for 4 for Coronado, which scored five times in the third. Adam Sampson was 2 for 2 for Sweetwater.
CITY CENTRAL LEAGUE
Christian 5, St. Augustine 4--Josh Brouillette’s three-run double off Eric Dent highlighted a four-run fifth inning for Christian (1-10, 1-3). St. Augustine (4-8, 1-3) scored two in the fifth behind a Steve Jones’ double and Dent’s single, which both came with two outs.
CITY EASTERN LEAGUE
Madison 10, Morse 5--Devin Fitzmaurice pitched four innings of relief to improve his record to 7-0. Second-ranked Madison (14-1, 4-0) scored nine runs in the first two innings. Buzz Brown knocked in two runs with a triple in the first. Chris Pinzini drove in three more in the second with another triple. Javier Brown (2-1) took the loss for Morse (9-6, 3-1).
Patrick Henry 10, Point Loma 4--With six runs in the first inning, Patrick Henry put the game away early. Mike Chapman (2-0) went the distance and David Barnier went 3 for 4 with an RBI for Henry. Both teams are 6-7 and 1-3.
Mira Mesa 7, Serra 4--No. 9 Mira Mesa (11-3, 3-1) was outhit, 12-5, but scored on 3 runs off 11 walks. Serra is 4-11 and 0-4.
CITY WESTERN LEAGUE
Mission Bay 3, University City 2--Collin Davis drove in Mike McKesson with one out in the bottom of the seventh for No. 3 Mission Bay (14-0-1, 4-0). Scott Kuhl (4-0) gave up only two hits and struck out eight. Brad Ledwith took the loss for University City (7-6, 1-3).
University of San Diego High 11, Kearny 1--Tony Moeder was 3 for 4 with 2 RBIs and Gavin Millay and Brent Whelan each collected 3 RBIs for USDHS (5-7, 2-2). Kearny is 4-9-1 and 0-4.
Clairemont 9, La Jolla 3--Julio Rodriquez was 3 for 3 with 4 RBIs for visiting Clairemont (5-9, 2-2). Vic Beltran (3-2) went the distance and limited No. 8 La Jolla (11-4, 3-1) to 5 hits. Luke Williams (2-2) was the losing pitcher.
