Local News in Brief : 2,000 Striking Writers Picket Disney Studios

An estimated 2,000 striking television and movie writers picketed the Disney Studios in Burbank Wednesday.
Members of the Writers Guild of America have been on strike since March 7 in a dispute with producers, including those at Disney, over residual payments for programs sold into syndication.
No one was arrested during the 90-minute demonstration at the studios in the 500 block of Buena Vista Street, Burbank Police Lt. Joe Latta said.
Representatives of the writers’ union and the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers were scheduled to meet with a federal mediator on Monday, United Press International reported.
