Drug Dealer Sought in Fatal Shooting

SAN FRANCISCO — Police Saturday sought a drug dealer who, in front of dozens of horrified onlookers, fatally shot a man who tried to chase him out of a housing project.
An all-points bulletin was issued for Raymond Antoine Dentley, 21, shortly after the shooting outside a Bernal Heights project Friday afternoon. He remained at large Saturday, Homicide Inspector Frank Falzon said.
Dentley allegedly shot and killed Charles Waddell, 43, who had confronted him in front of the Highland Street Project.
A 13-year-old boy who was also hit by an apparently stray bullet was hospitalized in good condition at St. Luke’s Hospital. The boy was one of about 30 or 40 people who witnessed the incident.
The boy and others told police that Waddell, a popular figure in the area, approached Dentley and said, “Get out of here. You don’t belong in this neighborhood.”
Dentley then allegedly went to his car, took out an automatic weapon and started shooting. Weddell and the boy were both injured in the legs.
