Following are reviews for the American Film Institute Film Festival. All screenings are at the Cineplex Odeon Century Plaza Cinemas .
‘Our Life Is Now’
Sweden, 1982, 92 minutes , 12:15 p.m . The debut film by writer-director Suzanne Osten--a poignant autobiographical testimony: her mother’s doomed attempts to make “art” films in World War II-era Sweden--demonstrates remarkable talent. Everything works: period evocation, stream of consciousness, insights into art and poverty, and the incredible lead performance by Malin Ek. One of AFI FEST’s unexpected great moments.
RECOMMENDED.
