Westminster Powers Past Ocean View

Westminster High School hit four home runs in the first two innings and beat Ocean View, 11-3, in a Sunset League baseball game Tuesday at Ocean View.
The Lions (14-7 overall, 7-3 in league play) took a 7-0 lead after the second inning and breezed to their sixth consecutive victory. Ocean View is 11-8-1, 5-4-1.
Ben Mendoza and Ryan Klesko hit back-to-back homers in the first, giving Westminster a 2-0 lead. In the second, Mendoza hit a two-run homer and Brett Grebe, the Lions’ starting pitcher, helped himself with a two-run homer, highlighting a five-run inning.
Westminster added a run in the fourth and three more in the sixth.
Ocean View was held scoreless until the fourth, when D.J. Andrews singled home Matt Bertram from third. The Seahawks scored once in the fifth and again in the seventh.
Three Westminster pitchers limited Ocean View to just six hits. Klesko (4-1) came on in relief of Grebe in the third inning and picked up the win.
Manny Lopez (2-3) lasted two innings and suffered the loss.
