The mother of ousted Philippine President Ferdinand E. Marcos died today after appealing to President Corazon Aquino to allow her son to return from exile in Hawaii as her “dying wish.” Josefa Edralin-Marcos had been hospitalized since Sunday with pneumonia, diabetes and kidney failure. She died as Aquino convened her Cabinet’s “crisis committee” to consider the request by Mrs. Edralin-Marcos to be allowed to see her son one last time. The 95-year-old woman stayed behind in February, 1986, when a military-civilian uprising drove her son into exile in Hawaii after 20 years in power.
