Forward Stephen Thompson of Syracuse was added to the list of players invited to try out for the U.S. Olympic basketball team this week.
Thompson, who attended Crenshaw High School, was one of several players invited after 8 of the 93 players originally asked to attend the trials declined. Thompson, a forward listed at 6 feet 4 inches, averaged 13.4 points and 4.7 rebounds a game while starting every game as a sophomore last season.
The trials will begin today in Colorado Springs, Colo. Georgetown Coach John Thompson will coach the Olympic squad.
