Durelle Schimek of Cal Poly Pomona set a divisional record in the javelin and won the National Collegiate Athletic Assn. Division II women’s heptathlon championship in the men’s and women’s track and field meet at Angelo State (Tex.) University with 5479 points. Her record throw was 159 feet 9 inches, breaking the mark of 157-1, set by Janet Nicolls of Cal Poly Pomona in l986.
