WASHINGTON — Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O’Connor, sometimes mentioned as a running mate for Vice President George Bush, unequivocally ruled out today the possibility of taking the No. 2 spot on the GOP ticket.

O’Connor, 58, is a conservative longtime Republican appointed to the high court by President Reagan in 1981. She is the first woman to be a Supreme Court justice.
