Chalk up another consultancy for Spanish tenor Placido Domingo, who announced Wednesday that he will serve as president of the European Youth Opera, a new operatic venture funded by the European Economic Community. According to Domingo, the company will be made up of young singers who are EEC citizens and will be a permanent fixture on the European cultural scene. Domingo said it is “very, very important to discover talent while singers are still young . . . before they have actually turned professional.”
