4.1 Quake Shakes S. California Desert

BORREGO SPRINGS, Calif. — An earthquake that rumbled through the Southern California desert and was felt as far south as San Diego caused no injuries or damage, police said.
The earthquake, which struck about 5:30 p.m. Friday, was measured at a magnitude of 4.1. It was centered 23 miles southeast of Palm Springs in the vicinity of the town of Borrego Springs, said Steve Bryant, a seismic analyst at Caltech in Pasadena.
