SOVIET CHIC

“Soviet Chic,” by George Stein (June 5), left me feeling quite uneasy. The relating of the so-called reciprocal exchanges in the arts, consumer goods, science, either in effect now or soon to be implemented, is done in an optimistic mood, indicating some benefit to the Soviets and to us. Incorporated into these accounts is the underlying theme that somehow all this will bring about peace agreements.

I am the child of ex-Soviet parents who suffered very difficult times under Soviet rule. Why do average Americans not understand that the main goal of the Soviets is world domination? Long ago the Soviets said that they won’t need a war to conquer us. They said we’d raise the Red Flag ourselves. Let me tell you, that Lenin T-shirt made my hair stand on end.
