Local News in Brief : Simi Shopping Center to Be Renovated

A multimillion-dollar renovation and expansion of Simi Valley’s Belwood Shopping Center is expected to begin in August, according to English American Investments, a Beverly Hills development company.
The shopping center, one of the oldest in Simi Valley, will be expanded by 24,000 square feet at a cost of $4 million. The city Planning Commission approved the project in June.
The finished shopping center is expected to contain more than 80,000 square feet, said Julius Nehorai, a partner in the development firm. It is to be completed by February, 1989. Alpha Beta, the center’s main tenant, has signed an agreement to remain the Belwood’s commercial anchor, Nehorai said.
According to Nehorai, English American bought the property for $4 million from its original owner, Otto Wolman of Pasadena, who built the center about 25 years ago.
