A speeding car swerved around another auto stopped to allow schoolchildren to cross an intersection in Oakland and plowed into several youngsters, killing two and injuring two, police said. Officials identified the dead as Rene Zuniga, 10, and his 8-year-old cousin, Carla Rosales. A 12-year-old school crossing guard who was hurled 100 feet by the impact was treated at an Oakland hospital for a broken collar bone and released. Carla’s 6-year-old sister was critically injured. “It came zooming down the street . . . didn’t bother to stop . . . and those poor kids went flying,” said Michael White, 20, who witnessed the accident. After knocking the children down, the car rammed a parked station wagon and stalled. Witnesses said three men jumped out of the car and were heard to say: “Oh, my God!” The suspected driver, Michael Dwayne Brandon, 21, was arrested a few hours later at his home.
