From Buyer to Seller

The Washington Scene (June 12) was headlined “Housing, Suddenly a Buyers’ Market.”

It appears that it didn’t last very long or else it is as volatile as the stock market.

The front page of the Washington Post, June 26, contained an article headlined “Home Buyers, Sellers Shocked as Prices Go Through Roof.”

Examples: Seller asking $229,000 for townhouse returns home from weekend trip to find five buyers who have bid price up to $241,000. A three-bedroom home in the Wesley Heights area of Northwest Washington recently sold for $200,000 more than the asking price after six people bid for the property.

Hardly a buyers’ market anymore or an equally sudden shift back to a sellers’ market.
