McGraw-Hill Inc.’s profit rose 12% to $44.8 million from a year ago. Results include the sale of its interest in a joint-venture publishing company in Japan. The New York-based publishing and broadcasting company is also taking previously announced asset writedowns and other unusual charges of $107.6 million after taxes.
