Los Alamitos Race Course will celebrate its 20th anniversary of night racing on Saturday, the final night of the early summer quarter-horse season.
Key figures who participated in the opening-night program on July 23, 1968, are expected to be on hand.
Former jockeys who will be honored in the winner’s circle after the fifth race include Charles Smith, James Dreyer, Bobby Adair, Nolton Pattio, Henry Page and Robert Strauss, the regular rider of the famed Go Man Go. Strauss will present the trophy to the winning owner of Saturday’s $75,000-added Go Man Go Handicap.
Smith rode Truly Night to victory in the Inaugural Handicap on opening night.
Former track announcer Bobby Doyle, now retired, will call a race during Saturday’s program.
