Unsanitary Conditions Close Soviet Beaches

MOSCOW — A Soviet health inspector said today a severe deterioration in sanitary conditions has forced the closure of many Soviet beaches on the Baltic, Black Sea and Pacific coasts.
Deputy Chief State Sanitary Inspector Anatoly Zaichenko said the recent hot weather in most parts of the Soviet Union has made matters worse. Warm water has allowed organisms to thrive, including those carrying typhoid, dysentery and other infections, he said.
