Local News in Brief : Animal Neglect Charges

An arrest warrant was issued Friday for a woman who who allegedly kept her elderly mother and 72 dogs, cats and birds in filthy conditions at her Eagle Rock home.
Authorities have been unable to locate Rebecca Courlie, 50, since she fled from her house when Department of Animal Regulation officials came to inspect it Wednesday. Since then, 28 of the animals have been destroyed, but animal regulation officials said they expect the others to survive.
Courlie was charged Friday with 72 counts of animal neglect and four other misdemeanors including elder abuse.
