Harbor Hospital

Recently, a close relative (in an emergency situation) was taken to the Crisis Unit of UCLA-Harbor Hospital in Torrance. She received the best treatment I think it is possible to get. The Harbor doctors gave only necessary medication and maximum attention and concern. There was a definite feeling of teamwork at the unit, which included the hospital workers as well as the psychiatrists.
She has since been released, and we all feel strongly for the first time in several years that she will recover.
I also noted other patients, those more seriously ill, were very well-treated as well, and were given concern and attention by the staff. This kind of care and policy is a good public investment. We need more centers modeled after this one.
