Weather Cools Montana Fire

A smoky wildfire near Montana’s capital was stalled by cooler weather today after destroying 10 homes and three bridges. At Wyoming’s Yellowstone National Park, three campgrounds remained closed because of two big fires.
The Montana fire halted its advance after charring several thousand more acres of the Helena National Forest during the night. “The fire seems to be lying down,” said Art Howell, a spokesman for the U.S. Forest Service. “There’s an inversion over the fire and it’s not moving in any direction. There’s a lot of smoke over the fire.”
