Neighbor Held in Man’s Slaying

Escondido police are holding a neighbor in connection with the Tuesday night shooting death of Elayne Gordon Boltjes, 37, police said Wednesday.
Boltjes was shot with a handgun at about 10:45 p.m. after an argument, according to a witness, said Escondido Police Lt. Earl Callander.
John Gudger, 27, who, along with Boltjes, lived at the Ridgeview apartments in the 1300 block of East Grand Avenue, matched the description given by the witness, police said. Police are searching for the gun, Callander said.
