Though you could not tell it from local concert programs, there is a growing body of substantial music for guitar and orchestra. Brouwer’s Third Concerto is accompanied by only strings and percussion, but captures a thoroughly accessible world of pungent sounds, lyrical, yearning tunes and driving rhythms, purposefully played by Bream. A tidy if somewhat tired Fantasia makes an acceptable partner.
