Meanwhile, Bruce Springsteen turned 39 Friday night--and celebrated by performing an extra-long set at the Oakland Coliseum stop of the Amnesty International “Human Rights Now!” tour. Both Springsteen and Peter Gabriel turned in extended sets to cover for the absence of Sting, who was out of the Amnesty show lineup for the recently added Bay Area show. The birthday boy was serenaded by the 59,000 fans assembled and by Joan Baez, who then chimed in with the Boss on Bob Dylan’s “Blowin’ in the Wind.”
