USA Today has outlined its plan of succession for the retirement of editor John C. Quinn in 1990 and placed Peter Prichard, 43, in line to become the daily newspaper’s next chief. Quinn will move from editor to editor-in-chief on Oct. 1. Prichard, a senior editor at USA Today, will succeed Quinn as editor. Nancy J. Woodhull, 43, replaces Quinn as president of Gannett News Services, a unit that includes the Gannett News Service, a supplemental wire service, and Gannett New Media, a research and development unit of Gannett. Ronald D. Martin, 50, will continue as executive editor and vice president of USA Today.
