John Johnson, Williams’ backfield mate, opened the scoring with a 76-yard run. Johnson, a senior tailback, rushed for a game-high 143 yards in 18 carries before leaving in the fourth quarter because of a knee injury.
Backup quarterback Mark Contreras closed out Channel Islands’ scoring with a 31-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Shawn Young with 2:53 to play.
Rick Kohut tackled Johnson in the end zone for a safety in the second quarter for Westlake’s only score.
