Dow Chemical Co.’s third-quarter profit jumped 92% from a year ago to $632 million. Sales in the basic plastics segment grew almost 50%, compared to the year-ago period, the Midland, Mich.-based firm noted, and quarterly sales and operating income were the highest ever for Canada and the Pacific area.
