College Roundup : UCI’s Kronemann Advances in Tennis

Trevor Kronemann of UC Irvine won two tennis matches to advance to the round of 32 in the Volvo All-American Collegiate Championships at Athens, Ga. More than 100 players started the tournament. Kronemann, ranked 20th in Division I, defeated Steve Herdoiza of Northwestern, 6-4, 6-4, and Dave Randall of Mississippi, 6-2, 6-2. Kronemann faces Tim Donovan of Brown today.
In California Collegiate Athletic Assn. men’s soccer:
Cal State Northridge 2, Chapman 1--Freshman Scott Montroy gave Chapman (6-10, 0-6) the lead with an unassisted goal 21 minutes into the game, but Northridge’s Steve Lazarus tied the score 20 minutes later at Northridge. He assisted on the winning goal by Scott Piri with 17 seconds remaining in the half. Northridge is 10-6 and 4-1.
In nonconference college water polo:
Loyola Marymount 15, Chapman 7--Chapman’s Skip Conner scored 3 goals and Graham Frandson and Tom Moran scored 2 each at Loyola. Tim Bass scored 4 goals for Loyola, which led, 11-2, at half. Chapman is 4-9.
