Ashton-Tate Corp. confirmed that it has agreed to develop a version of its top-selling dBase software program for Digital Equipment Corp’s line of mid-sized and desktop computers. Analysts hailed the agreement as an important step in the Torrance company’s efforts to expand its software line. In an unrelated announcement, Ashton-Tate said it has begun shipping dBase IV, the long-delayed updated version of the database management program.
