The Federal Communications Commission approved RKO General’s agreement to sell WRKO-AM and WROR-FM in Boston, ending a protracted dispute with the agency. Under the agreement, Atlantic Ventures of Boston would pay $27.7 million for the stations, of which $17.5 million would go to RKO and the rest would go to other applicants that competed for the licenses. RKO, a unit of Akron, Ohio-based GenCorp, has been embroiled in a legal battle with the FCC that dates back to 1965.
