Michael Abuse

Why was exclusive space given to a writer who obviously dislikes Michael Jackson as a person, but--in the interest of fairness--nothing given to an authoritative admirer of the man (“The Moonwalker’s Strange Quest for Perfection,” by Kristine McKenna, Nov. 6)?
McKenna takes cruel liberties with Jackson’s faults--as she sees them. Unless she knows this secretive man intimately, she has no way of knowing the quality of his life outside the spotlight.
She makes only second-hand assumptions that he’s as wretchedly neurotic as the media say. Eccentric he may be, but much of his “bizarre” image may actually be designed to inspire curiosity.
Describing him as “a super-host to the parasite called mass media,” McKenna is but one of many leeches. It’s ironic that by printing her nasty piece without an equally positive one, Calendar is guilty of the same vampirism.
