Atari’s third-quarter profit fell by the same percentage that its sales rose--91%. The Sunnyvale company’s net income sank to $901,000 from $9.9 million a year ago, while its sales climbed to $153.9 million from $80.4 million. The company said its computer and video-game division was hurt by the high price of memory chips and other components, along with fluctuating currency exchange rates. The firm also cited unexpected weak sales at its Federated Group consumer electronics stores, which were acquired last year.
