The oldest building in Balboa Park is being restored to its original 1911 condition. A Wednesday ground-breaking ceremony at the historic Irving Gill-designed Administrative Building kicked of the seven-month, $720,000 restoration, commissioned by the Museum of Man. Located at the east end of the Laurel Street Bridge, the Administrative Building has been vacant since 1970. The museum plans to use the building as its administrative offices and has hired Pacific Associates Planners Architects for the project.
